Warm Weather Draws Out LAPD DUI Checkpoints

Being accused of DUI can have severe repercussions that follow you for a long time. Police often set up check points to curb DUI-related collisions and driving under the influence. It is important that if you are stopped at such a checkpoint and charged you will need legal representation on your side as soon as possible.

Record heat seems to induce people to drink. With the record heat in Los Angeles this past weekend, law enforcement agencies went out on the prowl for drunk drivers. The LAPD thought that giving details about its crackdown might deter some from getting behind the wheel after having a few too many.

Checkpoints were established at many locations over the weekend. One checkpoint at Central Avenue and 81st Street was in the heart of an on-going gang war. Another, in its Olympic Division area, which included Koreatown, Mid-City, and other nearby areas, which isn’t a high drinking zone. There was also a checkpoint near Staples Center and LA Live. Checkpoints were also located in Pacoima and Topanga.

Police hope that all have a good time. Just don’t get behind the wheel and drive afterward. They will be looking for you.
