Video Shows Damning Evidence In Teacher DUI Case

Blood evidence is the strongest form of evidence in a DUI case. But video comes pretty close. A story making national attention shows what one alleged DUI driver did in Florida during her arrest. NBC Los Angeles covered the story.

A 2.5-hour video was released by the police department showing the driver’s arrest. The officers were responding to a crash where the driver hit the back of another van. On the video, the driver is shown stumbling around, flirting inappropriately with officers, and later attacking them and the vehicle. The driver, who was a teacher, was also shown complaining about her job.

The Miami-Dade school district has since fired the teacher and said she would not be rehired anywhere in their district.

The driver’s 10-year-old child was also in the back seat. Prosecutors were thinking about charging the driver with child abuse because of this, but they since dropped that charge. Instead, she’s being charged with DUI, DUI with property damage, careless driving, and battery on a police officer.

Sometimes the evidence is just too heavy to avoid getting charged, but a lawyer is still useful in these cases. They can negotiate for a lower sentence and tell you what you need to do to get your affairs in order before going to jail or prison.
