Victims Of Hemet DUI Wreck Identified

My News LA updated readers recently on the outcome of a tragic motor vehicle accident in Hemet, CA on December 12, in which two people were killed and a third injured when an allegedly drunk driver smashed into the rear end of another vehicle.

According to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office, both women killed in the accident were residents of Hemet, both 21 years old. The crash occurred around 4:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST) on Saturday, December 12, according to officials from the Hemet Police Department. A man from Downey, 33 years of age, was eastbound on Florida Avenue in a BMW 535i sedan, approaching the intersection of Florida Avenue and Kirby Street, when he failed to brake for stopped traffic and slammed into a Honda Fit hatchback stopped at the red traffic signal.

While the driver and one passenger were killed, the other passenger in the Honda Fit was seriously injured but expected to survive. The allegedly drunken driver was uninjured and attempted to flee the scene, but was stopped by a bystander and apprehended by police officers. He is now in jail on charges of suspicion of DUI, two counts of vehicular homicide and attempted hit and run.
