Two Killed, One Injured In Hemet DUI Wreck

My News LA reported recently that a driver suspected of operating his motor vehicle under the influence (DUI) was recently arrested after an accident in Hemet, CA, in which two people were killed and a third injured when the driver smashed into the rear end of another vehicle at a local intersection.

The crash occurred around 4:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST) on Saturday, December 12, according to officials from the Hemet Police Department. A man from Downey, 33 years of age, was driving a BMW 535i sedan east on Florida Avenue, approaching the intersection of Florida Avenue and Kirby Street, when he failed to brake for stopped traffic and slammed into a Honda Fit hatchback stopped at the red traffic signal.

The driver of the Honda fit, a Hemet woman 21 years of age, was killed along with one of her passengers, while her other passenger was seriously injured but expected to survive. The allegedly drunken driver was uninjured and attempted to flee the scene, but was stopped by a bystander and apprehended by police officers. He is now in jail on charges of suspicion of DUI, two counts of vehicular homicide and attempted hit and run.
