Two Killed In Lake County DUI Accident

The Mercury News reported recently that two people were killed in a tragic motor vehicle accident allegedly caused by a woman driving under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or other intoxicants on the evening of Saturday, March 13, 2021 near Middletown, CA. 

According to officials with the California Highway Patrol and the Lake County District Attorney’s Office, a woman from Novato was arrested on allegations of intoxicated driving for reportedly causing a wreck that killed two people in Lake County. The woman is due to be arraigned Tuesday afternoon on felony charges including vehicular manslaughter and causing great bodily injury by driving under the influence. 

The incident happened between 10:55 p.m. and 11:05 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on Saturday, March 13, 2021 along Highway 29 near Middletown. The Novatio woman was allegedly heading south in a Ford F-250 pickup truck when she veered over the solid double yellow lines demarcating the center of the roadway and struck a GMC van headed north. The two occupants of the van, both Clearlake residents, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. 

The suspect suffered minor injuries, and responding officers noted that she displayed signs of intoxication.
