The Los Angeles Times is warning people about two places in the area where DUI patrols will be stepped up over the weekend. The police announce these in advance so drivers will know why there is increased police presence in certain areas.
The first is in Laguna Beach. The patrol for this one will last from late Saturday to early Sunday. Police will be concentrating efforts where a high number of crashes and drug use have occurred. However, they didn’t state exactly where the patrols will occur. This is common.
The second patrol is in Huntington Beach from Friday and Saturday under the same conditions. Both patrols are funded through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
The police and the public have a great interest in stopping DUI. Over a thousand people died last year in California due to DUI accidents and tens of thousands were injured. We urge all drinkers to never drink and drive. Use a designated driver or drink at home.
If you are charged with DUI, however, you need to have a strong legal defense. The state must prove guilt and we will do everything we can to test the evidence and protect the interests of our clients. Everyone can make a mistake, but the punishment associated with DUI can ruin your life for years afterward.
If you live in the Los Angeles area and you’ve been arrested for DUI, don’t wait. Call our offices immediately to get help.
