Triple Fatality in Suspected DUI Crash

A suspected DUI incident has claimed yet another 3 lives in California.  

In the town of Placentia, California, a 27-year-old motorist was arrested on charges of suspicion of DUI and murder.  He allegedly struck and killed a mother and her two daughters.

At the time of the accident at about 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 21st, officers were in the vicinity when they heard the sound of an accident.  The scene was the 800 block of West La Joll Street.  

When officers arrived at the scene, they found three people lying unresponsive in the street.  Paramedics were called, but all three victims were reported dead at the scene.  The victims were one adult female and two children.

Neighbors reported that the victims were a mother and her two daughters.  They were walking home from a birthday party that had taken place in the neighborhood.  

According to authorities, the three victims did not use a cross-walk.  Also, the driver, identified as Nicholas Stephen Munoz, was held at the scene by neighbors.  No hit-and-run occurred.

The victims were identified as 35-year-old Patricia Ledesma and her two daughters, 8-year-old Stephanie and 4-year-old Diana. The investigation is still ongoing.  Police are asking anyone with any information to contact the Placentia Police Traffic Bureau at 714-993-8157.
