Tony Ferguson Arrested on Suspicion of DUI

CNN reports that the Los Angeles Police Department said in a statement that UFS welterweight fighter Tony Ferguson was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol early Sunday.

Officials say that the incident happened in Hollywood at approximately 1:45 a.m. outside a club located in the 1400 block of North Wilcox Avenue when he allegedly crashed his Silverado pickup truck into four parked and unoccupied cars before overturning his vehicle.

No one was hurt in the crash.

Officers responding to the scene report that Ferguson refused to submit to a Breathalyzer test. A spokesperson for the LAPD reports that Ferguson later agreed to take the Breathalyzer test. He was arrested at the scene on suspicion of DUI at approximately 5:20 a.m. and booked into the Hollywood Station Jail just after 6:00 a.m.

Neither the UFC nor Ferguson’s representatives responded to requests for comment.

Ferguson has held the interim UFC lightweight boxing championship once. The 39-year-old fighter and Khabib Nurmagomedov are tied for the record for the longest winning streak in their class, with 12 consecutive wins.

Recently, however, Ferguson has lost five consecutive fights in the welterweight division. His last fight was in September 2022.

A Los Angeles County judge has set Ferguson’s court date for June 1.
