Teen In Critical Condition After Alleged DUI

YourCentralValley.com reported recently that a tragic head-on motor vehicle accident in Fresno that left a young teenager hospitalized in critical condition is currently believed to have been caused by driving under the influence (DUI.)

According to officials with the Fresno Police Department, the incident took place between 8:10 p.m. and 8:20 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on Monday, January 25, 2021 near the intersection of Palm Avenue and Pinedale Avenue in Fresno, California. A black SUV drifted over the centerline into the oncoming traffic lane, colliding head-on with a white panel van traveling in the opposite direction. The drivers of both vehicles were able to free themselves from the wreckage but a young teen, thirteen years of age, was trapped in the panel van.

Firefighters arrived and were able to free the teen from the wreckage, whereupon they were rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. Police officials stated the driver of the black SUV was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence and causing great bodily injury during a DUI traffic collision.
