Suspected DUI-Related Deadly Wreck on 105 Freeway

My News LA reported that a Pomona DUI checkpoint netted an arrest and the towing of fifteen vehicles during a routine operation to check for driver’s licenses and sobriety in the California city of Pomona, according to representatives of the Pomona Police Department. 

According to the Pomona Police Department, 46 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license during the checkpoint operation which took place at the intersection of Holt Avenue and Hershey Street from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Friday night. 

Spokespeople for the Pomona Police Department noted that checkpoints are placed in locations based on collision statistics and frequency of DUI arrests.

My News LA also noted in a separate article that the jury has been seated for the trial of a 21-year-old convicted felon that now stands accused of a drunk driving accident that killed two people north of Desert Center. The 18-year-old Anza man was traveling to Lake Havasu City, Arizona for Independence Day festivities and was allegedly drunk when he crossed the centerline on State Route 62 east of State Route 177 and caused a head-on collision that killed his passenger and the driver of the vehicle they impacted. Both were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
