Yahoo! News recently reported that Arizona law enforcement officers arrested a man on suspicion of DUI after he called 911 to report that two armed men climbed into the cab of his flatbed semi-tractor trailer rig.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) said in a statement that the incident happened on Sunday, July 10th, at approximately 9:00 p.m. from 22-year-old Jorge Veleta-Corrales.
Valeta-Corrales told DPS dispatchers that the two men, one armed with a gun, the other with a knife, climbed into his flatbed trailer and were damaging the load he was transporting and trying to get into the cab of his 18-wheeler.
The responding DPS officers did a high-risk stop of the vehicle along Interstate 17. As soon as the big rig was stopped, Valeta-Corrales came out of the cab and said the two armed men were inside the cab.
Bart Graves, the Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesperson, said that the responding officers reported that they found no other occupants in the 18-wheeler.
According to the incident report submitted by the officers, Valeta-Corrales changed his story multiple times while he was questioned. DPS authorities decided to call a barricade situation and bring in a DPS SWAT team. Again, no occupants were found inside or around the big rig or in the immediate vicinity.
Veleta-Corrales was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
