Suspected DUI Driver Plows Into Torrance Brewery

Everyone knows that it’s never a good idea to get behind the wheel after you’ve been drinking.  One woman in Torrance ignored that advice and ended up crashing her car into a local brewery. 

The CBS affiliate in Los Angeles reports that Police in Torrance have arrested a woman they suspect of driving under the influence of alcohol on the night of Tuesday, July 6, 2021.

At approximately 2:30 p.m., a woman was driving southbound on Del Amo Circle East in Torrance and blew through a stop sign, striking a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk.

The woman lost control of her vehicle, jumped the curb, and crashed into the entrance of the Brews Hall Brewery located at 21770 Del Amo Circle East Sgt Mark Ponegalek of the Torrance Police Department said in a statement.

Despite significant damage to the building entrance, no one inside the business was injured in the crash.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene. The suspected DUI driver and the pedestrian both suffered moderate injuries in the incident. Both were transported to an area hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released any further information regarding their current condition.

Officials have not released the identity of the suspected DUI driver. Charges against her were pending at the time of the report.
