Suspected DUI Driver Hits Vehicles & Crashes Into a Home in Clairemont

According to a story on The Times of San Diego website, the driver of a gray Nissan pickup truck collided with a black Tesla on Point Loma Street in Clairmont on Thursday, August 11.  

The pickup truck driver then attempted to flee the scene. The driver of the Tesla pursued the pickup into a Birdland residential neighborhood.  

In a statement, a spokesperson for the San Diego Police Department told reporters that during the pursuit, the pickup truck crashed into a home and then continued onto State Route 163. The truck then struck two additional vehicles before hitting a guardrail near the Clairemont Mesa Boulevard exit.

The driver of the Nissan pickup truck again attempted to flee the scene of the crash, but not before four occupants of the pickup jumped out of the vehicle. California Highway Patrol officers apprehended and placed all four under arrest. 

The CHP placed the pickup driver under arrest on suspicion of DUI.

No injuries in connection to the crashes were indicated at the time of the report. They have not yet released the identities of the driver and additional suspects.
