Suspected DUI Driver Crashes Into BMW Dealership

Anyone can suffer a lapse of judgment and make a wrong decision. Deciding to get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle after you’ve been drinking definitely falls under the category of a very poor–if not very risky choice. Not only does someone who drinks and drives put their own life in danger, but they also risk the lives of their passengers, other drivers, and anyone else who happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

KCAL (CBSLA) reports that is likely what happened when a suspected DUI driver crashed into the BMW dealership in Hancock Park in the early morning hours of Tuesday, October 216, 2021.

According to a statement released by the Los Angeles Police Department, the accident happened at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday near the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and South Mansfield Avenue. The driver, traveling at a high rate of speed, lost control, causing his vehicle to jump on the sidewalk just outside of Beverly Hills BMW.

Flying debris from the impact shattered the front glass of the dealership and damaged a light pole and a nearby traffic signal.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene of the crash. Paramedics took the driver to an area hospital for treatment for minor injuries. Los Angeles Police officers later arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

No one else was hurt in the incident.

Authorities had not released the name of the driver at the time of the report. The crash is still currently under investigation.
