Suspected DUI Driver Arrested in West Sacramento

Good Day Sacramento reports that a driver suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol has been arrested after he crashed a stolen car into a parked vehicle on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for the Sacramento Police Department said that the incident began at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, in 5th Street and C Street when Sacramento Police officers spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen earlier.

When directed by police to pull over, the driver attempted to evade them instead. The driver headed westbound on C Street, which later turns into Sacramento Avenue. Entering the parking lot of Arteaga’s Supermarket, the driver crashed the stolen car into a parked vehicle that was occupied. The driver got out of the stolen car and attempted to flee on foot.

Officers caught up to the man and were able to detain him. Police say that the parked car driver was uninjured in the crash.

Authorities say that the 31-year-old man was arrested on the charges of suspicion of DUI, possession of a stolen vehicle, and attempting to evade police. He also faces a warrant for his arrest from the City of Sacramento for parole violation and two additional arrest warrants.

He was booked into the Yolo County Jail. No further information was available at the time of the report.

This is a developing story.
