Suspected DUI Crash in Fresno Leaves 1 Person Injured

Your Central Valley.Com reports that a suspected DUI driver has been arrested after a two-vehicle crash in Fresno on Tuesday night.

A spokesperson for the Fresno Police Department said in a statement that the crash happened at approximately 6:00 p.m. on November 23, 2021, near the Amazon Distribution Center at the intersection of Cedar and Florence Avenue.

Police officers were dispatched to the scene and found a 23-year-old man who was an Amazon contract driver pinned inside of his vehicle. Firefighters from the Fresno Fire Department were able to extricate the man from his vehicle. Paramedics rushed the man to an area hospital to be treated for severe head injuries that are considered life-threatening. Authorities say that he is currently listed in critical condition.

Fresno Police detectives investigating the crash scene determined that the Amazon driver was pulling out of the distribution center’s parking lot when he was t-boned by another car.

The driver of the second vehicle has been identified as Israel Douglas. He was uninjured in the crash; however, three passengers inside the car were taken to the hospital with minor injuries to be evaluated.

Police officers questioned Douglas and conducted a series of field sobriety tests, which he failed. He was placed under arrest and later booked into the Fresno County Jail.  Douglas is currently facing the charges of felony DUI causing great bodily injury and driving without a license.
