Simi Valley Wreck Leaves Car In Unlikely Position

CBS Channel 2 / KCAL Channel 9 CBS Los Angeles Local News reported recently that an allegedly intoxicated driver in Simi Valley on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 somehow managed to drive their car partially up a utility pole guide wire, leaving their sedan perched in what onlookers described as a precarious position.

According to the Simi Valley Police Department, the accident took place on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 between 10:25 p.m. and 10:35 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST) near the 4900 block of Alta Street and involved a single vehicle. SVPD officers responding to an accident call found a white four-door sedan nose-up in the air, supported by a guide wire connected to and supporting a utility pole.

The driver, a man 25 years of age, allegedly appeared to be intoxicated when officers spoke to him, and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics (DUI) after undergoing a field sobriety evaluation.

Power was briefly shut off to surrounding areas so that the car could be removed from the guidewire and the equipment inspected for safety. Simi Valley Police took the opportunity to make the following statement: “the incident was a reminder that drinking and driving don’t mix, and people who drink alcohol should make sure they have a safe ride home, or use a taxi or rideshare service.”
