Santa Clarita Crash Believed To Be DUI-Related

The Santa Clarita Valley Signal reported that an individual was arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) after a car accident on CA Highway 14 Tuesday night that resulted in one motorist being ejected from their vehicle. 

According to officials from the California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles County Fire Department, first responders deployed to the incident site on northbound Highway 14 near Sand Canyon Road around 9:30 p.m. last Tuesday. They found a sedan on its side in the HOV lane, and a victim that had been ejected from their vehicle, who was transported by ambulance to a local hospital by 10:00 p.m. 

The crash was determined to be a two-vehicle hit-and-run according to CHP spokespeople from the Newhall-area office and the CHP Traffic Management Office, and CHP troopers were able to locate the suspect and take him into custody after an investigation. He was arrested for felony DUI.

The investigation is currently ongoing, and no other details have been released by local law enforcement agencies. The identities of the suspect and the victim and the specifics of the crash have not been released to the public.
