Rancho Cucamonga Wreck Leads To Arrest

KTLA Channel 5 News reported recently that a suspected DUI crash in Rancho Cucamonga led to the arrest of a woman after she evidently tried to hide with an injured child after the wreck in the early morning hours of Thursday, December 16. 

According to officials from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a vehicle crashing into a light pole at the corner of Base Line Road and Amethyst Avenue between 1:45 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST).

Eyewitnesses informed deputies arriving at the crash site that a woman had extricated herself from the crashed vehicle and left with a small child. The child had reportedly sustained a head injury and was bleeding from the scalp. Deputies searched the immediate environs and found the woman and child hiding in nearby foliage alongside Klusman Avenue.  

The child was medically transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center for treatment of a laceration to his forehead, according to sources at the Sheriff’s Office. 

The woman was a Highland resident 24 years of age. Sheriff’s deputies determined she was under the influence of alcohol following a field sobriety test and she was taken into custody with $100,000 bail set.
