Power Pole Crash Leads to DUI Arrest

A suspected drunken driver is allegedly responsible for hitting a power pole and causing a power outage last week in Valley Village.

A Los Angeles Police Department Spokesperson reported that authorities received a report of a traffic incident at about 1:51 a.m. on October 19th. When police arrived, they learned that a car had hit a power pole, which had then completely collapsed.

The same spokesperson said that as of 5 a.m. the intersection was still shut down so that the Los Angeles Department of Power and Water could work to restore power.

Reports from the scene seem to indicate that the vehicle involved was a white Maserati. The Maserati also allegedly struck two other vehicles before crashing into the pole.

As the LA DWP assessed the situation, motorists were advised to avoid the intersection. DWP also turned off electricity to a few surrounding homes and businesses in order to complete repairs.

There was no information released on the suspected DUI driver.
