Police Sideswipe Leads to DUI Arrest

If a person decides to drive drunk, the last thing they want to see is blue lights flashing behind them. Another thing a drunken driver would not want to happen is to actually hit a police car. Unfortunately, these kinds of events do occur. Perhaps it is karma, or perhaps it is just bad luck. Either way, the drunken driver usually gets caught.

In Pacoima, a man was arrested earlier this month on suspicion of DUI. The incident occurred in the early morning hours of February 15th. The unnamed driver ran a red light at the intersection of San Fernando Road and Branford Street at about 2:45 a.m. After running the red light, the driver sideswiped a police vehicle occupied by two officers.

The suspect fled the scene and attempted to get away. Police gave chase and finally caught up to the suspect once a wheel fell off of his car.

Police spokesperson Sgt. Klaus Edgell of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Foothill’s station stated that both the officers and the suspect were taken to the hospital for complaints of pain. None of the injuries appeared to be serious.
