Police Pursuit Ends In Arrest For Vehicle Theft

Channel 2 / KCAL Channel 9 CBS Los Angeles Local News reported recently that a high-speed police pursuit took place on the evening of Tuesday, February 16, 2021 in the Los Angeles area, in which a man was arrested after the conclusion of the chase for allegedly stealing a vehicle . 

According to news releases issued by the Los Angeles Police Department as well as information from the California Highway Patrol, the incident began between 5:30 p.m. and 5:40 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST) on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 along the 5900 block of La Tijera Boulevard near the intersection of La Tijera Boulevard and Slauson Avenue. LAPD officers attempted to stop a white vehicle that had been reported stolen, but the vehicle fled, driving erratically along the 10 and 405 Freeways and then through several neighborhoods, narrowly avoiding collisions with other cars. 

Eventually, the driver bailed out of the vehicle on foot and ran through traffic along the Marina Freeway, and then into a grassy area where police took him into custody. 

An intoxication report was not immediately available, nor was information on the charges assessed against the suspect. The incident remains under investigation by local authorities, who have not yet determined if DUI was a factor.
