Police Capture Murder Suspect After Pursuit

NBC Channel 4 Los Angeles Local News reported recently that a police pursuit from San Diego to Riverside and eventually into Los Angeles County on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 6, 2021 ended in a motor vehicle accident and led to the capture of a murder suspect with a long rap sheet including arrests for driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUI), burglary, and rape. 

According to officials with the California Highway Patrol, the incident began between 5:25 p.m. and 5:35 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST) on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, along the northbound lanes of the 215 Freeway in the San Diego area. A man 35 years of age who was wanted in connection with an assault on an officer of the law as well as the murder of a man in Oildale, CA 40 years of age was pursued north on the 215 Freeway toward Riverside County. He proceeded onto the westbound 60 Freeway in Chino before exiting the freeway onto surface streets in the Pomona area. 

The driver was traveling on the wrong side of Indian Hill Boulevard around 6:20 p.m. and caused a collision between two other vehicles, then clipped a truck while dodging through a parking lot at 70 mph. The chase finally came to an end in Ontario at the intersection of Holt Boulevard and San Antonio Avenue when a quick-thinking truck driver blocked the vehicle’s path, causing the suspect to crash into the truck. The driver and a passenger were taken into custody.
