Plea Deal Leads To Prison Sentence for DUI Offender

Crimevoice.com reported on a recent plea deal related to a DUI case from 2019 that resulted in two deaths in the Los Angeles area.

The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office updated news outlets on a DUI accident which occurred on November 17, 2019, near the intersection of Parthenia Street and Sunny Brae Avenue. In the accident, a 21-year-old Glendale man was driving while intoxicated and hit multiple parked cars. The two passengers in his vehicle, a 16-year-old boy and 19-year-old man, were both killed by the accident when the vehicle flipped over during the course of the kinetic interaction. 

The driver entered a ‘no contest’ plea on September 29, 2020, nearly a year after the initial accident, to two felony counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. According to a Deputy District Attorney for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, the driver’s plea resulted in an immediate sentence, and he faces twelve years in state prison for the tragic incident.

The case was initially investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department, Valley Traffic Division, with a case number of PA093813. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is one of the largest in the nation, with nearly one thousand attorneys, three hundred investigators, and eight hundred support staff dedicated to the protection of the Los Angeles County citizenry.
