Placentia DUI Motorist Arrested More Than One Year After Fatal Crash

KTLA reports an Orange County man was arrested on Wednesday, March 15, and is now facing vehicular manslaughter and other related charges after a fatal crash in Brea more than a year later.

The fatal crash happened on November 2, 2021, when Brown, who was driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck, slammed into a disabled vehicle and its driver.

In a news release, a spokesperson for the Brea Police Department said, “The force of the collision pushed the disabled vehicle into the driver, who was standing beside it on the road. The victim sustained major injuries and died.”

A blood-alcohol test of Brown’s blood following the fatal crash revealed that the suspect had both alcohol and cocaine in his bloodstream.

The Brea Police Department’s Traffic Unit worked with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office on the case. Charges against Brown include suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, driving while intoxicated, and several other DUI-related charges.

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office issued an arrest warrant for Brown on Tuesday, March 14. He was taken into custody on Wednesday without incident. An Orange County judge set Brown’s bond at $100,000.

Orange County authorities have not explained why it took more than a year to arrest Brown.
