Patrols Stepped Up for the Big Game this Weekend

For football fans, the end of the holiday season really happens during the Big Game, or at least the major holidays where heavy drinking is concerned. The police know it too, and they will be stepping up DUI patrols during the weekend. Regardless of who you are cheering for, if you drive drunk the police will make sure you lose.

To keep that from happening, the California Highway Patrol is promoting a “Fans don’t let Fans Drive Drunk” campaign. They are encouraging fans watching the game to use designated drivers and to limit their alcohol consumption to prevent accidents. They are also promoting the use of apps like DDVIP so people watching the game at bars can find a designated driver to take them home. The use of designated drivers is one of the safest ways to get to and from party locations without worry of getting slapped with a DUI.

Many designated drivers can also get special incentives from bars and restaurants for fulfilling this important task. It’s a great way to get some extra food and the respect of local businesses, your friends, and the police.

Enjoy the big game this weekend, and don’t overindulge. If you still plan on doing so, use a designated driver. And if you still get pulled over and charged with DUI, call our offices for a free consultation. Our DUI lawyers are ready to help.
