Sometimes in a case, there is truly no way out. The evidence is just too strong that you were DUI. Perhaps there were injuries or deaths and the prosecution took special care to test for DUI to get a conviction. Sometimes, the only thing to do is to throw yourself at the mercy of your court and hope your lawyer can make the sentence as light as possible.
That may be why a man in Orange County plead guilty to a DUI crash that injured two girls. It was not his first conviction for DUI. He’s now been sentenced to 158 days in jail and four years of probation, along with attending classes for child abuse and a multiple offender DUI program.
The reason for the child abuse classes was because there were two young girls in his vehicle at the time of the crash. The man was trying to merge off of I-5 and crashed into a center wall. The girls received minor injuries in the crash. Due to the child endangerment charges, the man is now a felon.
His previous DUI conviction was in 2014.
Even if a case is hopeless, you should always talk with a DUI attorney first. Sometimes there may be legal issues that you’ve overlooked. And if there no doubt, a good attorney will do their best to persuade the court why they should be lenient in your sentencing. Standing up there alone will only let the prosecution have their full way with you.
