North Park First Date Ends in DUI Arrest

Almost everyone can recount a bad first-date story. For one couple, however, a first date ended very badly with a DUI arrest.

KFMB San Diego reports that a first date in the North Park of San Diego resulted in a man being arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol early Sunday Morning.

At approximately 12:54 a.m. San Diego Police Department officers received a call about a two-vehicle collision at the overpass of Lincoln Avenue and Interstate 805.

Authorities say officers arrived at the scene to find a blue Ford Mustang with extensive front-end damage and a Ford hatchback parked along Lincoln Avenue’s shoulder. The hatchback suffered significant damage to the rear driver’s side of the car.

Responding officers redirected traffic away from the scene while the cause of the crash was investigated.

Police interviewed the woman who had been riding as a passenger in one of the vehicles. When asked about the driver’s name, she said, “I don’t know his…I just met him! This is our first date.”

She also told investigators that she told the driver not to drive. When officers finished interviewing the passenger, she walked by the driver sitting on the curb and smacked him in the head, repeatedly shouting, “I told him not to drive!”

San Diego authorities have not yet released the driver’s identity. No injuries were reported in the incident.
