An Alhambra man who was driving while drunk has been convicted of second-degree murder.

The verdict came down after two days of deliberations. 39-year-old Ryan Munoz was convicted of second-degree murder for his role in an accident that occurred on June 28, 2014. Munoz had been driving his pickup truck westbound on the 210 Freeway. The accident occurred near the Towne Avenue offramp.

The trial proceedings revealed that Munoz’s blood alcohol content was at least .20 at the time of the crash. Testimony given during the trial also indicated that Munoz was on probation for a 2012 DUI.

Sentencing is scheduled for November 18. Munoz faces 18 years to life in prison.
