Man Arrested for DUI After Running Over His Girlfriend

ABC Affiliate KFSN reports that a 36-year-old Tulare man has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol for his role in a crash that resulted in him running over his girlfriend.

Authorities say that at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, Douglas Jeremiah Miller and his girlfriend were involved in a domestic dispute.

During the dispute, Miller attempted to leave the area in his pickup truck. His girlfriend chased after the truck and tried to get into the vehicle’s passenger door. During the chase, however,  Miller ended up running over her instead.

Police and paramedics responded to the scene near the intersection of Irwin Street and Bardsley Avenue and found that the woman had suffered critical and potentially life-threatening injuries. She was taken to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The woman’s identity and current condition were not released at the time of the report. However, in a later statement, officials say that she is expected to survive.

Police records indicate that Miller attempted to flee the scene of the accident,  resisted arrest, and officers at the scene had to use a taser to bring him into custody. Miller is currently facing charges of felony DUI, obstruction, and resisting arrest. Miller may also face additional charges related to the crash.

The incident is still currently under investigation.
