LAPD Suspected DUI Chase Ends in Two Arrests

No one wants to see red and blue lights in their rearview mirror, showing that police are pulling them over. No matter how strong the instinct to fight or fly, one of the most dangerous things a driver can engage in other than driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is to lead police on a chase. When pulled over, the best thing to do is cooperate with law enforcement.

My News LA reports that on Wednesday, July 6, two suspects in a black sedan led Los Angeles Police Department units in a chase that ended their arrest.

According to a statement issued by the LAPD, the chase began at approximately 7:30 p.m. in the Rosecrans Avenue and Studebaker Road areas when officers spotted a vehicle driving erratically. When the driver refused to pull over, additional police units were called.

The suspect vehicle made its way over surface streets to elude law enforcement officers before crashing into a yellow Chevrolet Camaro near Imperial Highway and Firestone Boulevard at approximately 7:40 p.m.

No injuries were reported in the crash.

A man and a woman got out of their disabled vehicle and attempted to flee the scene on foot. One suspect attempted to hide from pursuing officers in an area liquor store, but both suspects were apprehended a short time later and arrested on suspicion of DUI, hit-and-run, attempting to elude police officers, and other related charges.

The crash is currently under investigation.
