If you have ever watched shows like Jackass, you might wonder if the stars of such shows performed those stunts sober. While such things might be the thing of drunken stories of childhood buddies, the celebrities involved captivated an audience with their antics. Then, one of the films’ stars, Ryan Dunn, was killed while driving under the influence. For some, that would have been a wakeup call. However, some require more personal experience for the consequences of drunk driving to hit home. People reports on Bam Margera, accused of DUI in an incident that occurred earlier this month.
Bam Margera was arrested by the California Highway Patrol at around 8 a.m. Sunday, January 7th.
The CHP officers were in the area on unrelated business and allegedly observed Margera on his cell phone. They initiated contact and allegedly noticed signs of possible intoxication. Officers conducted a field sobriety examination and arrested Margera for allegedly driving under the influence.
Bail was set at $15,000 and he was subsequently released later that day.
This is Margera’s first DUI arrest, but he has been open about his struggles with alcohol. He just recently returned to skateboarding after a five-year hiatus which coincided with his alcohol abuse.
Margera’s mother stated that Margera was headed to a rehabilitation facility in Los Angeles and that he was “embarrassed and angry with himself” over the incident.
Margera’s good friend and co-star, Ryan Dunn, was killed in a drunk driving incident in 2011. At the time, Ryan was driving the car while intoxicated.
