Instagram Photo Shows Before and After of Crash

When buying a new car, the first thing people do in this day in age is snap a picture and post it to the internet. Whether they use Instagram, Snapchat, or Facebook, it is a thing commonly done. Imagine the irony of wrecking that new car and being charged with DUI only hours later.

Hours after posting an Instagram photo of her new Mercedes – complete with bow – a 22-year-old woman was arrested and charged with DUI and hit-and-run.

According to police, Aya Ibish of Laguna Beach ran down a bicyclist just hours after posing for the photo with her “pride and joy.” Police also allege that Ibish drove off after hitting the cyclist, leaving him with lacerations and a possibly fractured leg.

The alert cyclist was able to give the police a description of the vehicle. This allowed police to search the nearby area for a Mercedes with recent damage to the front end or hood.

After pulling her over in a vehicle matching the description that had a mangled front end, police conducted a field sobriety test. Ibish was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI causing injury and felony hit-and-run causing injury.

The earlier photo showing Ibish posing in a black top and torn jeans next to her new Mercedes was later deleted from the account.
