Increased Patrols For The 4th of July Weekend

It’s the 4th of July weekend, and you know what that means. Warm weather, fireworks, barbecue, and increased police presence throughout the country. But the police aren’t just be looking for illegal fireworks. They’re also looking for DUI drivers.

According to LA Weekly, CHP will be operating a “maximum enforcement period” from this evening until 11:59 PM on Tuesday. They are encouraging people who choose to drink this year for the celebration to use a designated driver or call an Uber or Lyft driver to pick them up.

AAA is also promoting their Tipsy Tow program for the 20th year running. If you need your car moved in a 7 mile radius to get back home safely, call 1-800-400-4AAA to get a free tow so you don’t have to drive drunk.

Police have announced checkpoints in the following locations for tonight.

  • DUI Saturation Patrol in Watts, Harbor Gateway, and South L.A.
  • Checkpoint at North Figueroa and York Boulevard
  • Checkpoint at La Brea Avenue and Willoughby Avenue
  • Checkpoint at Sunset Boulevard and Coronado Street
  • Checkpoint at an undisclosed location in Inglewood

Additional checkpoints and patrols can be found on the LA Weekly page.

We hope that you have a safe and DUI-free holiday weekend. However, if you do get pulled over and charged with DUI, don’t hesitate to call us. We can help you fight your DUI charges. Call today.
