Huge Sentence for Drunken DUI Crash

A drunken hit-and-run crash has resulted in a near-20-year prison sentence for a man in San Bernardino.

On Tuesday, September 6, 25-year-old Martin Mosby was sentenced to 19 years and 4 months in state prison for a 2014 accident. The hit-and-run crash killed 14-year-old Samantha Tarabay and put her two sisters in the hospital.

The accident, which occurred on July 11, 2014, was located at West Rialto Avenue and South Arrowhead Avenue. Samantha had been heading home from a grocery store with her two older sisters. A Kia driven by Mosby collided with the Acura coupe the girls were riding in. Samantha was killed and her two sisters were sent to the emergency room.

In the trial last month, Mosby was found not guilty of murder.

Mosby was convicted of one count of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, one count of leaving the scene of an accident, two counts of driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage causing injury, and two counts of driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 causing injury.

Mosby’s sentence was enhanced because the jury found that he had caused great bodily injury to his victims.
