Glendale Man Pleads No Contest To DUI Charges

KTLA Channel 5 News reported on a 21-year-old Glendale man who pleaded no contest to DUI-related charges in connection with a drunken accident that claimed the life of his two passengers last fall.

The original accident occurred on November 17, 2019, around 1:00 a.m. near the intersection of Parthenia Street and Sunny Brae Avenue in the Winnetka neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley. The Glendale man and two teenage brothers were reportedly returning home from a quinceañera, when the man lost control of his Chevrolet pickup truck and slammed into two parked cars, causing the truck to flip over. He was hospitalized with pain, but his two passengers, a 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old man, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. No one else was injured during the accident. 

The man was arrested on suspicion of murder after his release from the hospital. After pleading no contest on the 29th, he was sentenced to twelve years in state prison.

The two victims both attended Canoga Park High School and were both members of the Boys And Girls Club of the West Valley. The elder of the two was attending Pierce College in addition to helping his mother raise his six siblings.
