Fox News reports that Vontae Davis, a former cornerback for the Miami Dolphins, was arrested on suspicion of DUI after he rear-ended a pickup truck pulled over for a flat tire along the Florida Turnpike near Hollywood.
The Florida Highway Patrol said they arrested Davis, 34, who lost control of his Tesla sedan, colliding with the pickup truck. The force of the impact sent the pickup spinning into a concrete barrier and hitting the truck’s driver, who was standing nearby.
Paramedics responding to the scene transported the pickup driver to an area hospital with numerous injuries. His current condition was not made available at the time of the report.
FHP officers found Davis asleep on the side of the road. When asked whether he had been drinking, Davis admitted to having two drinks and returning home from a club.
Davis refused field sobriety tests as well as urine and blood tests. According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Department and court documents, Davis has a previous arrest as a prior misdemeanor offense of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
Davis played professionally for 10 years with the Miami Dolphins, the Indianapolis Colts, and the Buffalo Bills. In 2018, Davis famously quit during halftime of a Week 2 game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
