CBS Sacramento reports that a Grass Valley woman has been arrested for multiple charges, including DUI, after a hit-and-run accident that led to the death of a Waste Management employee in Nevada County on Monday.
California Highway Patrol reported that the Waste Management employee was cleaning up along McCourtney Road outside the Nevada County Fairgrounds around 9:00 a.m. Monday morning when he was struck by a black 2020 Dodge Charger outside Gate 4 of the complex. Witnesses reported the driver was driving erratically and then swerved to hit the victim on the road’s shoulder. The driver fled the scene after the incident.
The victim was transported to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Thanks to a lead, investigators were able to locate the address of the suspected driver and track her down. She was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was arrested with charges including felony DUI, felony hit-and-run, and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
California Highway Patrol’s Grass Valley post posted on Facebook, asking that any further witnesses that would have pertinent information regarding this collision are urged to call the Nevada County District Attorney’s Office or Nevada County Sheriff’s Office at 530-477-4900.
