Fatal Crash In Long Beach

It was early in the morning when the collision was reported. A man was driving a truck in Long Beach, allegedly under the influence of alcohol. He smashed the truck into a utility pole with two passengers still inside, as the report from CBS Los Angeles reports.

One of the passengers had severe injuries, and authorities gave the man CPR while they waited for the ambulance to arrive.  The other passenger, unfortunately, was not as lucky and passed away on the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was found walking along the road, away from the scene.  when police caught up with him, he was allegedly under the influence. There’s a high likelihood that he will be facing multiple charges, at the very least hit-and-run.

The preliminary investigation says that the driver veered off the road to run into the utility pole.  What caused this? Was it a mechanical failure? Were there other issues at play that we might not know about?
