Elderly Man Accused in Motorcycle DUI Accident

Man inside the car after accident

On Sunday in Glendora, California, a 65-year old motorcyclist was critically injured in an accident. Police Lt. Matt Williams reported that the crash occurred at about 5:20 pm on Foothill Boulevard at Galanto Avenue.

Both the motorcyclist and the driver of a Nissan Armada were traveling westbound on Foothill Boulevard. The two vehicles were occupying the right hand lane. This is when the SUV impacted the motorcycle as the driver of the motorcycle slowed down to make a right hand turn.

The driver of the Armada, Clarence Calhoun, 72, of Monrovia, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Officers at the scene reported that it was evident that the man was intoxicated.

The motorcyclist was taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center. He was in critical condition after the accident. The man’s condition as of now is currently unknown.

Calhoun remains in jail with a $100,000 bond. His arraignment was scheduled for Tuesday this week. The arraignment will take place at West Covina Superior Court.
