DUIs in Riverside and Ben Lomond Are Stopped By Highway Patrol

The Press-Enterprise reported that a driving while intoxicated (DUI) accident in Riverside last weekend had fatal consequences for a local motorcyclist. 

The accident occurred early Sunday at around 3:30 a.m. on the 60 freeway east of Country Village Road. A Nissan Sentra rear-ended a Suzuki GSXR motorcycle, according to a California Highway Patrol spokesperson. The victim, a 53-year-old Moreno Valley man, was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Nissan driver, a 31-year-old Riverside woman, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, according to the California Highway Patrol. Much remains unexplained, and anyone with information that might aid the investigation is being asked to call the California Highway Patrol at 951-637-8000. 

Also this weekend, a San Jose man was arrested for suspicion of DUI after attempting to enter a road in Ben Lomond that had been closed due to the CZU August Lightning Complex fires, according to Patch.com

The 44-year-old man was driving north on Highway 9 around 3:30 a.m. on Monday, at Lower Glen Arbor, when he tried to enter a road that had been closed due to wildfires, according to the California Highway Patrol. He was stopped by the California Highway Patrol and arrested for multiple weapons possession charges in addition to the DUI charges.
