KRCR ABC Channel 7 News reported recently that a driver was killed in Butte County, California during a motor vehicle accident, allegedly caused by an intoxicated driver, that occurred on the evening of Friday, May 7, 2021.
According to a news release issued by officials with the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place between 10:20 p.m. and 10:40 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST) on Friday, May 7, 2021 near the intersection of Lincoln Boulevard and Messina Avenue in the town of Palermo, California. A Yuba City man, 25 years of age, was allegedly driving a 2000 Audi at an unsafe speed along Lincoln Boulevard south of Messina Avenue when he collided with the rear of a 2001 Toyota, which according to the Butte County Coroner’s Office was being driven by a man from Los Angeles, 34 years of age,
The Yuba City man allegedly tried to flee the scene of the wreck after the accident and was restrained by witnesses and bystanders before being taken into custody by police officers as they arrived. The man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) and was arraigned in court Tuesday on charges including leaving the scene of a crash.
