NBC Channel 4 Los Angeles News reported recently that two people were killed in a high-speed motor vehicle accident in Inglewood on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 that was allegedly caused by a DUI suspect fleeing a pursuit by the police.
According to officials from the California Highway Patrol, the incident began between 10:25 p.m. and 10:35 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST) on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 near the 405 Freeway in the Inglewood area. A driver allegedly driving under the influence of intoxicants (DUI) ran a red light in a blue pickup truck and refused to pull over for police.
He led the police onto the 405 Freeway in pursuit, then exited at Manchester Boulevard and along surface streets. He was northbound on Glasgow Avenue when he T-boned a white sedan at the intersection with Olive Street.
The white sedan was occupied by a man 27 years of age and a woman 22 years of age, both of whom were extricated by crews from the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The woman died at the scene while the man died from his injuries at a local hospital.
The accident remains under investigation. but law enforcement officials believe the pickup driver was under the influence at the time of the accident.
