DUI-Related Chase Ends In Lynwood

KTLA Channel 5 News reported on a DUI-related police chase in the Lynwood area on Thursday, October 8 that ended in the arrest and detainment of the driver.

While details of how, where, or when the chase began were not immediately available to press sources, a spokesperson from the Los Angeles Police Department stated that officials suspected the driver was intoxicated, prompting the pursuit effort. The Sky Five news chopper apparently arrived on scene around 10:00 p.m., observing a silver Ford Explorer sport-utility vehicle merging onto the southbound lanes of the 710 Freeway from the 5 Freeway in the area of Commerce.

The Ford Explorer SUV exited the freeway at Imperial Highway, blowing through a red light before continuing along surface streets in the Lynwood area, with at least two marked police vehicles in close pursuit with flashing emergency lights. The driver of the Ford Explorer pulled into the parking lot belonging to the Plaza Mexico shopping mall, stopped his car, and fled on foot. However, responding police officers pursued the individual on foot, chasing him down and taking him into custody within minutes.

No further details were available about the pursuit, such as if anyone was hurt or what charges the man might be facing.
