DUI Motorist Crashes into Dental Office

A Florida Man has made national headlines after he crashed his vehicle into an Ocala dentist’s office with a blood-alcohol level of nearly twice the legal limit.

Fox35 Orlando reports that on Tuesday, January 24, the suspect, 22-year-old Gabriel Hausy, slammed his car into the Healthy Smiles Dentistry Office near the intersection of 10th Street and 2nd Avenue in Ocala, Florida.

Security video taken from inside the office shows the moment when Hausy’s Chevy Equinox crashed through an outer wall and into the hallway of the dentist’s office. Hausy managed to escape his destroyed vehicle and fled the scene on foot.

Since the Ocala Police Department’s headquarters was less than a half mile away from the crash scene, officers responded quickly and were able to find Hausy just a short distance away. He was arrested for DUI, causing property damage, hit-and-run, and resisting arrest.

A blood test indicated that Hausy had a blood-alcohol level of .14 – nearly twice the legal limit of .08 percent.

“It’s something where he could have easily lost his life, but luckily no one was injured,” Officer Jeff Walczak told Fox 35 reporter Marie Edinger.

Officers investigating the crash found receipts from an area bar that showed Hausy had purchased drinks just an hour and a half before the crash.

Court records indicate that Hausy was convicted of domestic battery in 2020 and again in 2022 when he fled the scene after another DUI crash causing property damage and resisting arrest.

A judge has set Hausy’s court date for this latest incident on February 20.
