DUI Driver in Desert Hot Springs Arrested After Fatal Crash

According to a recent story appearing on the My News LA website, a woman has been arrested for DUI after she struck and killed a pedestrian in Desert Hot Springs earlier this week.

Desert Hot Springs City spokesperson Doria Wilms said in a statement that the fatal crash happened at approximately 10:40 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23. Wilms said that Amanda Irving (age undisclosed) was heading eastbound near Hacienda Avenue and Maui Way when she lost control of her vehicle.

Irving’s vehicle struck and killed a 76-year-old male pedestrian who was walking along the roadway. Irving remained at the scene of the crash while paramedics and emergency crews were called. The man was pronounced dead at the location of the crash.

No other vehicles or injuries were reported in the incident.

Officers with the Desert Hot Springs Police Department placed Irving under arrest on the charges of suspicion of DUI causing great bodily injury. She was later booked into the Benoit Detention Center in Indio.
