DUI Driver Arrested After Hitting Parked Vehicles and Homes

Caroll County blogger Kym Kemp reports that Eureka Police have arrested a man on suspicion of DUI after he struck multiple homes, a parked vehicle, and a street sign late Sunday night.

According to a statement issued by Brittany Powell with the Eureka Police Department, at approximately 10:15 p.m., dispatchers received a report of a vehicle crashing into a home located in the 1900 Block of H Street. 

Police responded to the scene and found that a driver had struck two homes and a vehicle that was parked on the street. The gray Ford pickup truck became lodged against the house and a privacy fence. Abandoning his truck, the driver fled the scene of the crash.

Officers were able to locate the suspected driver a short distance away from the scene in the backyard of a nearby home. He has been identified as 38-year-old John McGahn of Eureka. McGahn was placed under arrest on suspicion of DUI hit-and-run.

Police detectives determined that McGahn had struck two separate residences, a parked white Kia Ascent and a street sign at the intersection of Third Street and H Street.

The accident remains under investigation.
