Driver Suspected of DUI Arrested After Fatal Motorcycle Collision

According to a recent story appearing on My News LA, a 23-year-old woman suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol has been arrested on suspicion of DUI. She is also being held on the charge of gross vehicular manslaughter for her role following a fatal collision on Thursday, October 21, 2021.

According to a statement released by the Desert Hot Springs Police Department, the fatal crash happened just after 10:00 p.m. when Mia Janae Perry was driving a Toyota Solara and was on Pierson Boulevard when she attempted to cross at the intersection of Pierson and U.S. Highway 62.  

Perry failed to yield to cross traffic and pulled out in front of a  55-year-old male motorcyclist on a Harley Davidson. The biker lost control and crashed into the side of her vehicle. The force of the impact ejected the biker from his motorcycle onto the highway.  

Law enforcement officers and paramedics responded to the crash. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Perry was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of drugs. She was booked into the Riverside County Sheriff’s Detention Center in Indio.
