Driver Arrested on Suspicion of DUI After Crashing Into Two Covina Storefronts

Fox News L.A. reports that a driver has been arrested on suspicion of DUI after they crashed into at least two storefronts at a strip mall in Covina on Sunday evening.

According to a statement released by the Covina Police Department, the crash happened at approximately 5:45 p.m. near the intersection of South Second Avenue and East Rowland Street when a dark-colored, four-door sedan crashed into a strip mall. 

The vehicle damaged the Village Cleaners and the Design Forward storefronts. Video footage from the crash scene shows substantial damage to both the car and the building.

Firefighters with the Covina Fire Department and officers with the Covina Police Department responded to the scene of the crash. 

No injuries were reported in the incident. The driver of the car was not taken to the hospital.

However, Covina Police officers did determine that the driver of the sedan was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs at the time of the crash.

Authorities have not yet released any further details of the driver.

City officials are expected to determine the extent of structural damage to the building.
