Deadly Quartz Hills Crash Leads To DUI Suspicion

KTLA reports that a woman was killed, and three kids hurt in a crash in Quartz Hills.

The crash occurred in Lancaster on the afternoon of Saturday, August 3rd. At about 12:45 p.m. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department 36-year-old Robert Wells was attempting to make a left turn. He turned in the path of on oncoming SUV at the intersection of Avenue L and 40th Street.

A woman from Lancaster believed to be in her early 40s was behind the wheel of the SUV. She suffered from catastrophic injuries, which she succumbed to shortly after arriving at the hospital. Three children were also in the SUV. They were taken by helicopter to a hospital with injuries that turned out to be non-life threatening. The identity of the woman was not released as the coroner was awaiting confirmation and notification of next of kin.

Wells was arrested following the crash on charges of DUI causing death. Bond was set at $100,000.
